My Story
Born in Portsmouth, I initially studied Fine Art at Oxford Brookes, specialising in Photography. After spending several years as a freelance photographer, I obtained my teaching qualification from Goldsmiths University and went on to teach Art and Photography for 10 years in inner London schools. Whilst teaching art, I discovered a passion for ceramics, which led me to shift my focus towards my own practice and to teaching pottery in private studios. In 2023, I completed an MA in Ceramics from UCA and began to establish myself as a contemporary ceramic artist. My distinct approach to ceramics earned me a Fresh Talent Award at the 2023 British Ceramics Biennial and a residency at Staffordshire University. Since then, I have exhibited at Ceramic Art London, Collect 25 at Somerset House and I am currently represented by Contemporary Applied Arts Gallery. My work has appeared in several international ceramics magazines and I was recently interviewed in ‘House and Garden’ as part of my involvement in the 2025 British Ceramics Biennial. I have also lectured on Undergraduate and Masters’ programs at Arts University Plymouth, Staffordshire University and Herefordshire College of Art.
During my undergraduate studies in Fine Art and whilst completing my masters degree, the exchange of ideas with fellow creatives played a pivotal role in the growth of my artistic practice. Engaging in dialogue—conversations filled with questioning and constructive criticism—became an essential part of my creative process. These interactions sparked an interest in facilitating and participating in meaningful discourse, ultimately guiding me to establish the Ceramic Artist Mentoring Program, aiming to extend the benefits of discussion and mentorship to others in the field.
